AICC secretary Bhupen Borah has made a fervent appeal to the people of Mizoram to be a part of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's dream of a new India. While addressing a gathering at Aizawl South 3 assembly constituency in poll-bound Mizoram, Borah said:
“There has been a wave among young Indians across the country to follow Rahulji’s dream of a new India. Rahulji’s dream is to make India a true global superpower. And believe me. We are not very far from converting that dream into a reality.”
Over 2,000 people attended the meeting. Among the dignitaries present in the meeting included home minister R Lalzirliana, parliamentary secretary and sitting MLA of the constituency KS Thanga, and Mizoram Pradesh Youth Congress president Miss C Lalawmpuii.
Addressing just a day before Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s September 20 rally in Aizwal, Borah narrated  “how Shrimati Sonia Gandhi ji passionately led from the front” to get the food security bill passed during the monsoon session of Parliament.  “This landmark legislation will benefit 75 per cent of India’s rural population and half of the nation’s urban population,” Borah added.
In his speech, Borah also touched upon the sacrifices made by present chief minister Pu Lalthanhawala for the sake of bringing peace to Mizoram and also about the achievements of the state government in implementing Centrally-sponsored schemes. He also described Centre’s Look East policy, and how Mizoram could reap benefits out of it.
